Ordinance No. LOO. | An ordinance regulating the storage o gunpowder and other explosives in the town of Rensselaer. Jasper county, Indiana? Section Ist:—Be it ordained, by th/ Town Board of the Town of Rensselaer, Jasper county, Indiana, at their regular session, Monday, November Fifth, 1883: That it shall bi? unlawful for any person or person?, to have or to keep oh hand, either on, the -premises occupied by themselves, or in any other place within one-half mile of the ou ter limits of the boundary line of the Town of Rensselaer, at any one time, more than twenty-five poutidsbf gun powder, or its equivalent in explosiveness of dynamite, nytro-glycerine, giih-ootton, or any otlier substance whatever. Any person or persons found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this section, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not less than one dollar hor more than ten dollars for each offense. ../._ Section 2nd:—it shall be the duty of the Fire Committee of the Town of Rensselaer, Jasper county, Indiana, or any other person or personal who shall be selected for that purpose by the President, of the Town Board, to visit ah scores, shops, ware-hous-ed or other places, wnere, 4p their opinion, giin powder or any other Substance of an explosive'vr dangerous character may be kept on hand, and institute inquiries of the owner*or owners, clerks, or other emerriployees, in relation to the quantities of each or atty of the afore mentioned explosives, and any person or persoris who shall refuse to answer fully and particdUrly any questions that muy be put to them in regard to the amount of any explosive so kept on hand, or who shall seek to prevent an examination of his or their premises, for any of the pur poses aforesaid, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, Upon conviction thereof before any court yof competent jurisdiction, shall be fined in any sum not less than one dollar, or more than Section 3rd'. ion of the Town Board, public welfare requites that this ordinance shall go into effect as soon as practical.
