A Devil Incarnate.
A dreadful and unaccountable crime was committed in Benton county, one and a half miles south of Oxford, last Monday. Ada Atkinson, a lißeen-y earold daughter of Cephas Atkinson, was murdered in her own home, where she had been left alone, and her body cut and mutilated 1 ih a horrible mannerHer throat had been cut from ear to ear, and, after death, apparently, her abdomen had been eut across with numberless deep gashes, exposing the intestines. Cephas Atkinson, the father of the ill-starrd girl is a wealthy farmer, and well known to many-of our c; tlzens. In our judgment the circumstances of the crime indicate that it was the work of a maniac.
