Struck by Lightning: —The house of 0. J. Brown, two miles south-east of town, was struck bylightning, Monday night. The house was slightly damaged, but none of its occupants were injured.

No reports from Milroy and Kankakee townships. Number of marriages: April 7 May 4 June 9 Total 20. Number of deaths reported: April 11 May > 7 June 2 Total 20. Males, 11; Females, 9. Deaths in Rensselaer, 3; Remington, 1; Marion tp., 4; Carpenter, 1; Barkley, 4; Hanging Grove, 3; Newton, 1; Not reported, 3. Deaths occurred from diseases, as per reports, as follows, viz: Apoplexy 1, Lock-jaw 1, Consumption 1, Mamma- / tion of Brain 1, Inflammation of Bowels 1, Paralysis 1, Chronic Diarrhea 1, Chronic Dysentery 1, Catarrhal Pneumonia 1, Measles and Meningitis 3, Measles Pneumonia and Meningitis 1, Pneumonia 1, Septicemia 1, General Debility 1, Fibroid Degeneration of Lungs and Abdominal Phthisis 1, Old Age 1, • Still Born 1, Unknown 1. The State Board of Health has rescinded the rule requiring compulsory vaccination before entering the public schools.
