Excursion Postponed. Arrangements had been perfected for a grand excursion to Cedar Lake, to-day, under the auspices of the Ladies Literary Society, but the exceedingly unfavorable character of the weather, during the past four days, has caused its postponement until a more propitious occasion. Go to La Rue’s for bargains in Groceries, Queensware, Glassware and provisions. Taken to the Asylum!—William Price, whose insanity was mentioned in last week’s Republican, was taken to the Asylum for the Insane, at Indianapolis, last Monday by Sheriff Powell, assisted by Joseph Burns, of Barkley tp- * Now “get there Eli,” for Haus, at the New Bakery, has fitted up an elegant Ice Cream parlor, and also keeps fresh bread, cakes and pies, and invites you to call. i An ice cream and strawberry festival was given at the Opera House last Thursday evening under the auspices of the Presbyterian Sabbath school. The preparations for the festival had been extensive and elaborate, and had not the weather proved threatening and unfavorable in the early part of the evening it would doubtless proved a yery gratifying success. As it was, however, the receipts did not exceed the expenses by more than about sixteen dollars.

The M. E. Parsonage. The building committee of the M. E. church held a meeting last Friday, and after giving the old parsonage a thorough examination, it was decided to rebuild and enlarge that building rather than to erect a new one throughout. A second story will be added, and such other alterations aud additions made as will make it a comfortable and convenient residence. After the conclusion of the Free Will Baptist services, at the Presbyterian church, last Sunday, the congregation repaired to the river where the pastor, the Rev. B. F. Ferguson, administered the rite of baptism to Samuel Sparling, Chas. Hammond, Miss Bertie Daugherty and Miss Florence Williams.
