A Solid Bond, —The Board of Com missioners, at their special session last week, examined and approved the official bond of Treasurer elect M. B. The case of the State vs. Calvin Cavender was begun Monday afternoon. Daniel Frazer and W. W. Watson for the people and S. P. Thompson and W. . B. Austin for the prisoner. It was a hotly contested case and took an unexpectedly wide range, re* quiring the attendance as witnesses upon one side or the other of pretty near the entire male population of Nubbin Ridge. Witnesses were impeached and bad reputations established in* large numbers. Theinevitable “alibi” of course again ’‘bobbed up serenely.” The ’court charged the juiy Tuesday evening after supper, and in a very few minutes they agreed upon a verdict of •‘not guilty.” Glass ware cheap, at Bedford & Osborn family paints in any desired quantity and shade, at Meyer’s drug store.
