Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, are the last days upon which excursion rate tickets can be bought for the Railroad Exposition 4»t .Chicago. • Ths Grand Jury.— 'the Grand jury closed its labors on Friday last and were discharged. During their session they found in all eleven indictments, four of these were for giving liquor to minors; four for being intoxicated in a public place; one for unlawful sale of liquor; one for sodomy, and one for grand larceny.
A praiseworthy and persistent' effort has been made during several weeks past to revive popular interest in the Blue Ribbon Temperance meetings. We regret to say that the effort has not succeeded, and, for the present at least, will be abandoned. ■«»»■ Church Festival.— The ladies of the &f. E. Church intend giving a series of regular bi-weekly ice cream festivals, daring the season, the first of which will be given at the residence of the pastor, the Rev. J . J. Claypool, next Friday (to-morrow) evening. It will be a pleasant affair; without doubt, and everybody is invited to be present and help enjoy it. The June number of “The Midland Monthly”, formerly “The Telephone,” the Indianapolis literary magazine of which our former / townsman, Prof. W. De M. Hooper is managing editor, came to hand last week. The name has, very wisely, been dropped intirely. This number presents quite an extensive table of contents, and so far as we have examined, seems to possess a large share of real literary excellence.

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” This is truly exemplified in the new “Pleater” that W. H. & C. Rhoades are agents for. No matter what kind of trimming you wish to make, box, knife, single point, double point, diamond, star, or any thing can be done upon it, and done so quickly, in so many beautiful designs, that not to have one is grief in the family, and to have one in the house will bring smiles and happiness. They are so low priced that every family can have one. Call and see it, and Mr. VVm. Rhoades will be very happy to show you its working qualities. HEMPHILL & HONAN’S FOR YOUR Fancy Notions —r
Dentistry.
you can obtain a set at I. C. Kelley’s Dental office, that will fit your mouth perfectly, and resemble the natural teeth so near that they cannot be recognized as artificial. Those who are troubled with misfitting plates, of other Dentists manufacture, we would especially invite to call at our office, as we have had much experience with such cases; and have never failed, by* useing the flexible rubber disc, to fit the most shallow mouth that has come under our observation. We would advise younger persons to have the front teeth on the plate filled with gold, as it fully destroyes the artificial look. Plates inserted from one tooth to an entire Ret.
