Tlie driven well contest has been decided by the Supreme Court in favor of the Green patents; hence there is no recourse for those who are using these weils but to pay the patent royalty. This fact will doubtless start afresh the sharpers who make their livings by pretending to be owners of patents, and frightening uninformed farmers inbuying their fraudulent claims. Our advice to those who may be called upon to pay a royalty on one of these wells is to be settle on the best terms possible, without a law suit, but to be very careful that the person with whom this settlement is made is the authorized agent of the owners of the patent.
