From Dakota.

From the last number of the “Jim River Pilot” a lively paper published at Altoona, (formerly Hitchcock) Dakota, we clip a few interesting items: Chas. H. Price who comes from Rensselaer, Indiana, and A. Comer of this place have formed a CoPartnership for the transaction of a general law land and loan business. «

Mr. Price is not an entire stranger to the beautiful advantages qf the wonderland, while taking the bracing atmosphere he will practice his profession. He is an experienced and successful lawyer, having had a long and successful practice in the Heosier state. On Friday last, twenty-six thousand acres of land were filed on, at the Huron land office, and it was not much of a day for filing, either. Dakota is getting to the front, so far ps people, intelligence and wealth go.. Louis Kern, of Huron, spent Sunday at hfs home near this place. Our authorities did not consider in necessary to double police force. Twenty-six dogs, from the east, arrived here in one day. Not a good day for dogs, either. “Wonder if it The Huron Times says: “ Twen-ty-five thousand acres of government land were filed on at the Huron land office last Thursday. “O. W. Firth, Hong Kong, China,” registered at the Makeever House last Friday. 01. is a complete specimen of the tramp printer. One of the class who look upon an extra shirt as an effeminate indulgence, and know |ittle nse for an overcoat except to “put in soak” with “their uncle” the pawnbroker. The name Hong Kong, as quoted above, is understood to be used in a purely figurative sense, and denotes that the person using it, has been as ?f ar on the way to the Antipodes as his means would permit. Mr. Firth has been in New Orleans, La. during the last few months. iq
