FROM GILLAM.
There is considerable of sickness throughout ithe neighborhood. Measles principally the cause. D. G. Prevo is quite sick with them. Uncle Eli Faris, Rev. Geo. Guild and wife are numbered with the sick. Mr. Wm Nickolson died Wednesday, April 4th, after a long and painful illness, of that terrible disease, consumption. Funeral services took place Thursday at Independence chapel, conducted by the Rev. Falkner. His bereaved friends have our warmest sympathies. The schools of Gillam are all in progress except West Vernon which will open Hext Monday. Tlw following are the names of the teachers and their respective sqhools: L. B. Faris, West Vern-
on; R. M. Osborn, East Vernon; P. R. Faris, Independence; E. E. Long, Center; P. A. Deselms, Pleasant Ridge; C. M. Saylors, Union. Mr. Williams from lowa, is visiting -his daughter, Mrs. A. G. Robb and family. Messrs 0. W. Faris and D. B. Coppess will leave for Ladoga the first of the week where they expect to attend school. May they be crowned with success is the wish ot their many friends. Lucian Massey has repainted and grained his house inside. P. R. says it makes quite an improvement. Mr. Ed, Mitchel met with rather a serious accident sotne days past. While out duck bunting his gun burst, tearing it all m pieces and blacking his countenance with powder to some extent. We are glad to say that our old friend, D. H. Guild is with us once more and expects to remain this summer. Bessie now weftrs a smiling countenance. Star.
