A Great Improvement.
The Janper Counts Draining Association. r The dwellers amid bull-snakes, musk-rats and miasma, should come to their own rescue, and by a voluntary offering help the good work to an early accomplishment., There have been taken 255 shares of stock, and 45 more must be taken. Most of the owners of swamp land in the valleys of the upper Iroquois, the Pinkamink, Coppess Creek and Stump Slough, have shown a spirit of generous aid If the other proprietors will be halfway just, and lend pecuniary aid, the mill-dam will be removed before May Ist, 1883. The work can be done quickly, cheaply, and id a friendly spirit by voluntary aid. Each one who would reap an advantage ]oy removing the obstructions to the flow of water in the river, ought to measure that benefit, and chip in with aSV,X, or more. The project ought not to fail, and we believe it will not. It is the people’s own work, and the plan proposed is one that commends its self to all good and well disposed persons. The stubborn churl, whose avaricious and stinted soul makes him utterly parsimonious, ought not to own swamp lands. The neighbors of such a man need meek and gentle spirits, not to rebel against doing good and paying for benefits to such a thankless niggard. We hope that -ere the ides of April each swamp-land holder and speculator, tributary to the millpond, will see himself as an equity Judge would find from the evidence, and pay what he owes toward the accomplishment of the purposes of the J. C. D. A. Its Objects-Are: Ist. —To remove the mill-dam and all artificial obstructions in the Iroquois river, in Sec. 30, Town 29, north, Range 6 west. 2nd. —To procure a steam flouring mill to be erected instead thereof. 3d.—To own and lower the rappids of the Iroquois river. The stock of the association is $6,000. An organization can be had with $3,000 or more of paid up stock. The shares are $; 0 each.! Take one or mftre shares.
