PERSONAL AND OTHER MENTION.
Please remember that the meeting qt the- Draining Association at the Court House, Saturday next, is important. Let everybody go. Mr. Sol. Wells, of Troy, Ohio, is visiting his neice, Mrs. H. M. Pureupile. James McDonald has removed to his farm he bought of Mr. Wells, in Milrcy tp. Mrs. Lizzie Johnson, of White Hall Mich., is visiting with her sister, Mrs. E. L. Clark. Messrs J. W. Duvall and his brother S. W. * Duvall of Morn ertce 111., intend starting for Dakota next Monday, W. H. McColly wants his paper sent to Blackford, in Jasper, instead of Muneie, as heretofore, Dr. Wm, Bowman formerly of Pilot Grove has removed to Lowell and presto, change, is an attorney at law. * Mr, Jos. Williams orders his copy of the Republican sent to Cleveland, Kansas, and Mr. W. T. West has his copy marked Norton, Kan. Dr. and Mrs. S. L. Ensminger, of Orawfordsville, are visiting Mrs. Ensminger’s sister, Mrs. Ludd Hopkins, this week. Capt. Jas. H. WaWon, and Mr. J. J. Imsley, came up from Orawfordsville to try their luck at fishing and hunting in Jasper county. The Ladies Literary Society will meet at the residence of Mrs. W. T. Jones, Saturday afternoon, March 31st, 1883. Mrs. George Grauel is now numbered among the residents of Rensselaer, having reached here Saturday last.
Mrs. W. H, Sayler started yesterday for southern Missouri being called their by a telegram saying that her mother was sick and not expected to live. Pr. Link sent a car load of stock and goods to Dakota last week, and as sole cabin passeqger of said car was Wesley Karsner, our neighbor Mack’s ex-typo. Mr* N. S. Bates came in from Nebraska Friday evening. He showed us soniq fine samples of Nebraska seed corn, and sayr “There’s more to follow.” The latest Information from Mrs. I. S. Wade at Lafayette, is to the effect that her condition shows a slight improvement, with a possibility of recovery. Mrs. Dr, Link, and >jthe Misses Della and Arilla Cotton all took the early train Sunday morning for Dakota. The Republican wishes them a most pleasant and profitable summer. Delos Thompson and Elmer and Jay Dwiggins are home for the Spring vacation. Jay wears the cadets’ uniform of the Orchard Lake, Mich., Military .Academy, and the girls think he looks just too killing.
Mr. Wv N. .Tonp.s, of Frtncesville, favored us with a call a day or two ago. Mr. Jones is a right pleasant kind of a man himself, and loses nothing in interest to Rensselaer people from being the husband of the beautiful Lota Tharp, long a resident of this placfc. * Mrs. W. J. Imes is making very plow progress towards the recovery of her health. It is her intention, in company with her sister, Miss Amanda Parris to visit ,Dakota soon and try what effect a summer’s residence in-the bracing air of the North-west j will have upon her system. They willjgo sometime in April. The ohlJriends of Mrs. Fannie jtee Miller, daughter of The Rerjliope B. Miller, a form* er resident of Rensselaer, will be paiDed to learn of Hie death of her husband, who was instantly killed last week, in Virginia, by a fall from the tower' of a wind-pump, the construction of which he was engaged in superintending. The body was taken to his family at | Batavia, Ill.) last Saturday.
