REMINGTON ITEMS.
Mr. Turpin and his family from the southern part of the state, have moved to the Leprant farm near town. Mr. Turpin is a brother-in-law to Mr. O. B. Mclntyre and they will prove valuable acquisitions to society in general and to the M. E. Church in particular. The vernal equinox was ushered in by a severe snow storm the early part of this week, but notwithstanding this, there are unmistakeable signs of the early approach of spring. Wewill all gladly hail its advent. Quite a number of our citizens are getting ready to emigrate to Dakota this spring, but a majority of them are intending to return to Remington this fall, after preempting and proving up their “titles clear” to a portion of the rich land that Uncle Sam so freely gives to us.
There is quite a good deal of sickness in town just now, but none of a serious character, that we are aware of. Measles, and bad colds are the prevailing complaints. • Remington can boast of one musical prodigy, Master Bertie Shepherd, who is only six years oldandyet is able to play over fifty different pieces on the piano and organ, some of. them being quite difficult. Indeed there is a great deal of musical talent and culture here, one lady, Mrs. Will Shepherd having twenty five pupils, and, Mrs. J. S. Sheffler, having ten, and we believe there are one or two other teachers who likewise have several pupils. Mr. H. T. Howard of Monticello spent part of last week with friends in Remington.
Mrs. Wells has been on the sick list for a few days but is recovering. She expects to start to Chicago for an extended visit the latter part of this week. . Miss Branham of Indianapolis, who has been visiting friends here returned to her home on Tuesday of this week, accompanied by her, sister, Mrs. Ed Briggs. F. D. Carson and family have left Remington followed by the good wishes of many friends. They expect to make their home in Tennessee. E. H. Wells returned to Indianapolis last Saturday. The school entertainment last Wednesday evening was an unqualified success, especially the exhibition of statuary. Remingtonian.
