Jasper County Draining Association. Pursuant to call a meeting was held in. Rensselaer, Thursday, March 15th, 1883, for the purpose of taking action with reference to. removing the mill dam at Rensse-* Jaer, and constructing a Steam Flouring Mill. S. Pi Thompson was elected chairman, and 0. C. Starr, Secre--1 tar yMr. Alfred Thompson moved co | organize a Draining Association to Ibe called the “Jasper County I Draining Association.” Adopted. I Moved that this Association sollicit subscriptions outside of reglular stock, for the purpose of re■moving the Mill dam and constructing a Steam Mill. Motion ■prevailed. | Moved bv A. McCoy that we ■proceed to take stock and subscriptions at one. Motion carried, land one thousand dollars of Stock land two hundred and fifty dollars I donations subscribed. I Mov’ed that Mr. A. Thompson F act as agent to solicit subscriptions fto stock and donations* Motion prevailed. On motion meeting adjourned to meet at Court House in Rensselaer, Saturday March 24, 1883, at 2 o’clock p. m. 8. P. Thompson, Pres’t. C.. C. Starr Sec’y. In addition to the above report it may be stated that Mr. Thomp- - son is meeting with very encouraging success, in soliciting subscriptions for stock and donations. On Monday morning the total amount of donations and subscriptions were estimated by Mr. Thompson to exceed $1,700. The prospects of this great improvement are now very nattering We again call attention to the meeting for next Saturday as announced in the above report, and respectfully urge upon the citizens of Rensselaer and vicinity the importance of this movement and the advisability of attending the meeting. - - -—* •- - —— Mr. John L.
