GILLAM ITEMS.
Weather changeable and toads bad. There is considerable sickness throughout the neighborhood. Measles on the inctease, Billy Elliott and sister are quite poorly with them. Miss Celia Comer is very sick with lung fever. Mrs. Lena Mason; wife of Joseph Mason, died Friday morning last, March 9th, after a long and painful illness. The funeral services ’took place at Independence Chapel Saturday at 11 a. m., conducted by the Rev. Falkner. The bereaved friends have our warmest sympathies.
The West Verhon and Union schools closed last Saturday after terms of four months. Mr. William Long and Miss Lina Elliot were ini ted in the bonds of matrimony last Sunday, at the residence of the bride’s father, Rev. Guild officiating. May joy and happiness ever attend them is the wish of their friends. Mr. E. O. Rathfon’s smiling face is seen among us once more. Mr. James Antrim, of Keener paid his friends a flying visit Saturday and Sunday at this place. Mr.D. A. Rodgers visited his parents and friends last week. Mr. G. M. C. was so unfortunate as to lose his pocket book the other dhy with no small sum contained therein, boys take warning from this, be careful of your pocket books for “times” are hard and game is scarce. G. M. has our sympathies.'
