Church Matters.

The Rev. B. F. Ferguson, pastor of the Free Will Baptist Church, is conducting a protracted meeting, this week, in the Presbyterian church. The meetings are well attended, and interesting. At the M. E. Church, the Rev. Claypool still continues to hold meetings every evening; end every afternoon, except Mondays and Saturdays. The evening meetings are attended by large congregations, and the interest increases nightly. Several conversions have already been made, and* should the pastor,s health permit him to continue the work, as he wishes to do, an earnest and extensive revival may be looked for. Elder D. T. Halstead will, on Sunday morning next, begin a senes of discourses, at the Christian church, to be continued every evening for at least one * week. Subject: “The reason why, and the manner how! The numerous and conflicting creeds, doctrines and ideas, all purporting to come from the one book, the Bible. ahy is if? Whence is it? What of it?” All are invited to attend, and the Elder is especially solicitous to have his hearers begin with the first lecture. The Presbyterian Spcial will be put on runners, this week, and taken down to Dr. Deming’s, six miles south of town; if the bottom of the weather does not fall out, that is. Friday evening is the time, as usual. The Rev. Ferguson reports a very successful Quarterly meeting for the Free Will Baptist people last Friday, Jan.'l2th. That Wolf SKIN.—The person who took my wolf skin from the cattle chute, at the Rensselaer depot, last Thursday, Jan., 11th is notified to return the same to me at once, and thereby, save me the trouble of calling upon him for it.
