“Kind of Illiterate.”

The following story is told at the expense of a New York clergyman who went to Boston and visited a colored church. “How are you prospering?” he asked the sexton. “Tings ain’t so good as dey was, boss,” was the reply. “We got a new minuter, and he ain’t so good as de old one.” “What’s the matter with him?” “Well, boss, you Bee he’s hind of illiterate—comes from New York.”
