MORE CHANGE THAN IMPOVEMENT.
Railroad time tablos can’t be made to suit all places, and the one which went into effect on the L. N. A. &C. road last Sunday will knock Rensselaer noses further out of joint than ever. The South bound night train now passes at 2:24 a. m. while the North bound night train passes at 4:5 a. m. instead of at 5:4 as heretofore while the North bound evening train is an hour biter than formerly. The boys still play base-ball occassionally. but nothing more is heard about match games Anent of which we will relate a little anecdote. A gentleman lawn in old Virginia, in days gone by, owned a stable of alleged fast horses; but as none of them was ever known to win a race ot a dollar for their owner he finally became disgusted with the whole lot and informed his celored *.ruom that he should make an auction and sell the last brute of them. ‘*Oh don’t do dat ma»sa, don’t do dat massa, dey goes like de wind.” “Well what use are they, if they do go like the wind, they never win a race and I am bound to get rid of them.” “Oh but don’t you sell mn ) massa; you keep urn, dey can jes beat one anode r.” All of which suggests a good use for the Rensselaer base-ball i players, “dey can jea beat one aaloder.’*
