REMINGTON ITEMS.
Dear Republican —One good work or the beginning of one has been done in Remington since our last letter. A W. C. T. U. has been organized' by Mrs. Hathaway ot Normal 111. and each number is determined to do whatever a woman may do, to try to rid our community of this unmitigated evil. The officers are as follows Miss M. P. Bolles Pres. Mrs. Robt. Parker V. Pros Mrs. Wm. Draper, Rec. Sec. Mrs. R. M. Sheffer, Cor. Sec. Mrs. Wm. Shaw Treas. Xu addition to these officers a V. Pres, was elected from each church consisting of Mrs. Crowe from the Presbyterian, Mrs. Hollett from the Methodist and Mis Mary Blood from the Christian. Supt. of finance Mrs. M. G. Trapgh, Supt. of temperance literature, Mrs. John Burger. Meetings every Thursday afternoon in the M. E. Church* A cordial invitation is extended to all Rensselaer ladies to visit the Union when they cotae to Remington, Mr. Frank Hoover and Miss Ida Irwin were married last Wednesday by Rev. J. B. Crowe. We hope our young friends may live long and happily. One or two more weddings will likely take place in the near future, at least that is what /Mrs Grundy says-
From the appearance of things in town last Saturday evening a disinterested person would say that some kind of a temperance work or reform was needed badly in Remington. It is said that a little boy still in the second primary room of the public school, was intoxioated last Sunday. Remingtonian. The team of fIcT Hall while hitched in front of Dern Bros, grocery on Tuesday last were scared by another wagon in catching on while passing, They up set the wagon and spilled the contents but the danger was very slight.
