HOW IT WORN'S IN IOWA.
( CarM>v, s ]a„, C ’riterw-n.) Prohibition does prohibit iu j lowa, prom till parte of the State n,ews eaino of the closing of saloons. In the beer-cursed town of Chariton ten saloons closed with the expiration of their license on the Ist last, i Since then a fellow who was determined to run his den in spite of the amend the,rit has been arrested and heavily fined. Many other instances of the disdhifcinnpce of saloons and disorganization of beer clubs could be fitted, and even the most violent opponents of the amendnjettz arc even this soon forced |to admit that fit is a blessing. It 1 wili doubtless take some thud to make perfect the work of enforcement of the amendments, but that i better day is coming when the drink dens, the breeding places of crime and vileness, will no longer curse the greater cities of tins State. -
