SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.

Chilcote, in Rensselaer, Ind., at 1 o’clock P. M. on Saturday, September 9,1882,. for the purpose of electing a Secretary of the Central Committee, to till the-vacancy caused-by the resignation .of C. F. Overacker, who recently moved to lowa, and for any other business that may come before the committee. Mordecai F. Chilcote, Ch’rm’n Rep. ,Cen. Com. At the Democratic Congressional Convention held at Winamac on the 22nd inst., Charles H. Price of Jasper county was elected Secre tary. Hon. D. D. Dykeman presided. Hon. Thomas J. Wood of Crown Point, tire present Senator from Lake and Porter counties, was nominated, after the first ballot, by Reclamation. Tom. is a lawyer by profession and will evidently continue his practice in Lake county for the next two years.
