GILLAM ITEMS.
Still it rains acd still there is more to follow. Normal being over the boys and girls are flourishing the hoe among the tall weeds in the corn fields. F. M. Hart was visiting parents and friends the past week. V- Mann’s smiling face is seen among us once more. S. W. Hamilton thinks of going to Medaryville to take lessons in telegraphy. We wish him success. - G. D. Prevo talks of going to Valparaiso this fall to take a commercial course. May success be his reward. The Rev. Thomas Guiy and wife have returned from Greencastle for a short stay. Harvesting in full blast. The Independence and East Vernon schools met on the last day of ther school term and had quite a jubilee. Speeches were made by C. W. Faris, aud D. H. Guild, then came an excellent dinner, after which the scholars gave a splendid entertainment. The visitors as well as the scholars should ever remember the good advice given by the teachers in their farewell addresses.
