Peculiar Death of a Horse.
We seen nothing in the papers concerning the peculiar position of the dead horse in a field just this side or Grinnell, where the tornado crossed the Rock Island railroad. This horse is a fine sorrel and is kneeling as if in praver. It was evidently carried some distance in the air and gently let down in plain sight of the railroad upon its legs foldend in under it or driven into the earth. There is not a scar or dent to be seen in the noble animal and at first sight one imagines that it is alive. Its head is in an upright position, the nose resting upon the ground. The freak was one of the most wonderful of the tornado and the sight is one of the most impressive.—lowa State Lead-r.
