Jasper County Republican Teclet.
For Clerk ofCircuit Court, JAMES F. IRWIN. For Auditor, GEORGE M. ROBINSON. For Treasurer, MOSES B. ALTER. For Sheriff, JOHN W. POWELL. For Recorder, THOMAS ANTRIM. For Coroner, FRANK J. SEARS. For Surveyor, LEWIS S. ALTER. For Commissioner Ist District, A. C. PREVO. For Commissioner 2d District, SAMUEL R. NICHOLS. For Commissioner 3d District, JOHN WAYMIRE. A correspondent of the Kentland Gazette, claiming to come from Ambia, Benton county, claims that ■“Benton county was entirely ignored” in the primary election here so far as placing the name of their candidate for Senator on the ticket was concerned. The fellow who makes this statement is doubtless Benton’s candidate himself. And whe he says that he was ignored he simply makes a false statement. Mr. Travis was notified of the plans •of our primary ticket, and if he had so desired his name would have been placed thereon. The same correspondent states that Mr. Gilman was placed on the ticket with- ~ out his knowledge. How much knowledge Mr. Gilman may or may not have had of it, we do know that the Secretary of the committee was authorized to put his name thereon. It matters very little whether or no Mr. Travis’ name had appeared on the ticket, we believe that he received his full strength of the Republican vote of the county, and his silly whimperings are certainly not in keeping with the dignity of the office he seeks.
