K edhple 6f teflM Democratic Sentinel uttered one of ib characteristically dirty slanders against Mr. S. R. Nichols, the Republican nominee for Commissioner in the 2nd district. The Sentinel charged that Mr Nichols had collected from the county s4l fbr hi* services as agent for, the board of Commissioners, fbr building a bridge across Ilitf Slough iu Barkley township. The slauder was as baseless as it was base, and io refute the same Mr. Nichols furnished to both the Rensselaer papers a copy of his bill as allowed by the board of Commissioners.,together with the Auditor’s certificate of the correctness of the copy* Last week we pnlltshed the article in question, but, as it. happened, our compositor' fad only the first portion of the Andito.-’s certificate, and concluded that it was identical in form with another certificate of the Auditor’s which was already in type, and to save time the latter was used. The error was not noticed until alter the papers had all been printed. Below we give both bill and certificate with the error in the latter corrected. Rf-nsuklaFr, Ind., Dec. 10th, 1880.
