In Memoriam.

Melvin A. Osborn died May 31st. ’B2, at Valparaiso, Ind., in the 21st year of his age. Ho was born in North Carolina. hile quite young he came with his parents to Walker township, Jasper county, where he lived until ’BO, when he with his parents moved to Gillam township, where the family now resides. ; He was just ending his third term at the Valparaiso Normal, where he was taking a commercial course when he died. He united with the M. E. Church, at the age of seventeen, and tried hard to live an exemplary christain. His illness was very shoi t, and was supposed to have been cause! by an injury received in jumping on the Friday previous to his death. On Saturday he took his bed but was not thought dangerously ill. Grew but little worse and suddenly died Wednesday morning. His bereaved parents and friends the tenderest sympathies of the entire community. His remains rest in Independence cemetery. Funeral sermon will be preached in the near future. V. F. Bouk. The Circuit Court.—The regular June term of the Jasper circuit court opened Monday. What little business there is this term is being promptly and satisfactorily disposed of. Matthias Beiger, charged with offering for sale diseased meat, plead guilty. Fine and costs amounted to about fifty dollars. Thos. Sapp who stole* z the revolver forfeited his bail, and skipjied the country. Amount of bail, fifty dollars, paid by Win. Sapp Thomas’ father. Edward Hyland obtained a decree of divorce from his wife Martha E. on the groancis of abandonment.
