Sommer Complaints.

We shall soon hear of the prevalence es summer complaints, the term usually being used to designate a relaxed condition of the bowels. This article. is to admonish our readers to not be too much afraid of a diarrhoea. We think we may safely say that mischief more often occurs foom too suddenly checking the bowels when they are moving unusually freely 1 than from neglecting such a condition. In most cases the free move, ments are induced by the presence of something that ought to be discharged. It is Nature’s method to get rid of a load or to clear out something that is offensive,to health. This being the case the first step to be taken is to help Nature. Take something that will act as a cathartic. After doing this and reasonable time has been given to nature to rectify whatever is troublesome it may be well to take something of a binding nature. “But when; just when?’’ Well, if it is found that the strength is rapidly going; if a sense of prostration is felt after each movement, then, and not till then would we advise astringents, unless the relaxed condition continues for several days. Three or four days ought to be sufficient for Dame Nature to have her own way in the direction indicated; and if there be any question about it give the old natural nurse a week in which to clear the system of the offending material. Be as careful about not meddling too soon as you are to not neglect what appears like abnormah conditions.—[Dr. Foote’s Health Monthly.
