A REGULAR CIRCUS. |T\OIL J n r 7 Iftherel* one thing in all the world Q IT that allures the average bov and de- □ lights people generally, it is a weu Vj(Cj' managed and thoroughly equipped \W j circus. The children or a city or town seem to know of its coming by a kind of intuition, and prepare accordingly. ' The pennies, hitherto dropped Into the missionary -box with conscientious regularity, are now falthful'7 diverted into an old coffee-pot in the cellar comer for prospective use, and scrap-metal, old paper, etc., do substantial service in the wav of securing the amount of an admission fee. But for all that, we believe fully in the properly conducted circus as a means of amusement and diversion, and are happy to state the gratifying fact that the circus—or rather its proprietors and employes—experimentally believe in St. Jacobs Oil, the Great Pain Reliever of the age. Hon. P. T. Baruum’s Greatest Show on Earth and Coup's Monster Show can be taken as typical cases. Tho former says: “We take great pleasure in stating that St. Jacobs on, is In use by many ring artists now engaged with P. T. Barman's Greatest Show on Earth, united with the Great London Circus, Sanger’s Royal British Menagerie and the International Allied Shows. From Its happy effect upon those who have occasion to employ it, we have no hesitation in pronouncing St. Jacobs Oil the best liniment which has ever been brought to our notice. It is wonderfully efficacious in subduing pain. (Signed) Babnum. Batlkt & Hctchissoit.’ The Press Agent or Coup’s Monster Show says: “In cases of rheumatism or-complaints of that kind our artists know how to euro themselvesvery speedily. St. Jacobs Oil is a very popular remedy among our peoplo for rhcumaticj>oias, and as long as they cn n get it they won't suffer much." Mr. Frank I. Frayne says: " I have suffered terribly from rheumatism in my right shoulder and arm, and at the same time 1 had sovoro pains in my chest. Sometime since I read something In a newspaper about the remarkable cures of Bt. Jacobs Oil, and I thought I would try that remedy. I tell yoft lam mighty glad I did. fbr after using one or two bottles of that preparation I felt no pain whatever, and have had nonesince. lam firm believer in St. Jacobs Oi l, and I want •verybody in my company to keep it near them."
THE UVER AND ITS FUNCTIONS. OIT has beoome a well establishes fact that the <->| larger portion of diseases to wl ijh the human V-I family la subject arise In the first place from some derangement of the Liv« r. This organ is not only the largest, but at the Basis time one of the most fmportunt. The venous blood, on Its return to the heart, passes through this organ, and In Its passage the lmpnrities.as also the secretions which are necessary for digestion an well as for a cathartic to assist In the renewal of waste material Ac. are eliminated. From thlslt Is easily seen that the Liver is liable to get out of order to a greater or less extent.iand when this ocours It Is Impossible for It to properly fulfil its office of removing all objectionable matter from the blood, but allows it to pass through, carrying with It the poisons of which it should have been relieved. Lung Liver and Kidneys.
These great organs of life, as is known to every one, are most intimately related to each other, and where one is caused to suffer, the other two, on account of their sympathetic connection, are unavoidably made to feel the evil effects. Therefore, when distressed with symptoms of disease incidental to either organ, a medicine that will give tone and strength to all three, is Nature’s best assistant in restoring health. Such virtues are beneficial as are contained in Yellow Dock, Sarsaparilla, Juniper Iron, Buchu, Celery, and Calisaya. All these ingredients are scientifically combined in that great health renewer, Dr. Guysott’s Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla. Senator Logan is at Chicago.
Rescued from Death-
Ml VOX/ M. Wb w■■ - The following statement from J. Coughlin,- of Somerville, Mass., is so remarkable that we beg to ask for it the attention of our readers. He says: ‘’ln the fall of 1876 I was taken with a violent bleeding of the lungs, followed .by a severe cough. I soon began to lose my appetite and flesh. I was so weak at one time that I could not leave my bed. In the Summer of 1877 I was admitted to the City Hospital. While there the doctor said I had a hole in my left lung as big as a half dollar. I expended over a hundred dollars in doctors and medicine. I was so far gone at that time that a report went around that I was dead. I gave up hope, but a friend told me of Dr. Wm. Hall’s Balsam for the Lungs. I laughed at my friend thinking that my case was incurable, but I got a bottle to satisfy them, when to my surprise and gratification I commenced to feel better. My hope once dead, began to revive, and to-day I feel in better spirits than I have the past three years. “I write this hoping you will publish it, so that every one afflicted with diseas wish Diseased Lungs will be induced to take Dr.Wm.Hall’s Balsam for the Lungs, and be convinced that consumption can be cured. I have taken two bottles and can positively say that it done me more good than all the other medicines I have taken since my sickness. My cough has almost entirely disappeared and I shall soon be able to work.” Sold by druggists.
A Disabling Disease-
No disease which docs not confine a man to his bed so completely unfits him for business as dyspepsia. When the stomach is foul, the brain is always muddy and confnsed, and as the cares and anxieties of life are a sufficient burden for the organ of thought to bear, without being tormented by the miseries born of indigestion, it is highly desirable for the brain’s sake as well as for the sake of every other portion of the system that the disordered stomach should be restored with the utmost dispatch to a healthy vigorous condition. This object can always be accomplished by aoonrse of Hostettcr’s Stomach Bitters, the purest and best of vegetable specifics, which evacuates the morbid humors through the bowels, rouses and tones the torpid stomach and regulates the liver, imparts firmness to the nerves and clears the sensorium of its mental cobwebs Persons subject to attacks of indigestion, billious headache, irregularity of the bowels, sickness of the stomach, or “the blues,” should take the bitters once or twice a day throughout tho present season.
Poader on These Truth*.
Kidney-Wort is nature’s remedy for kindey and liver diseases, piles and constipation. Sediment or muoous in the urine is a sure Indication of disease. Take Kidney-Wort. Torpid liver and kidneys poison the blood. Kidney-Wort revives them cleanses the system. Headache, bilious attacts, disziness, and loss of appetite are cured by Kidney-Wort. See adv. For Dyspepsia, Indigestion, depression of spirits and general debility, in their various forms; also os a preventive against fetor ;ind ague and other intermittent fovors, the “Fetro-Phosphor-ated Elixir of Calisaya,” made by Caswell, Hasard <fc Co., New York, and sold by all druggists, the best tonic; and for patients recovering from fever or other sickness, \t has no equal. When physicians have made use of a prescription for years in their private practice with certain success, it is a duty they owe to mankind to put such remedies within reach of all, and this is done by“copyright,”suoh is the case with Dr. Sherman’s Pkicklt Ash Bitters, and they have proved to be a blessing to mankind. r i ■Bn Emerson left SIOO,OOO and no will
Sommer Complaints.
We shall soon hear of the prevalence es summer complaints, the term usually being used to designate a relaxed condition of the bowels. This article. is to admonish our readers to not be too much afraid of a diarrhoea. We think we may safely say that mischief more often occurs foom too suddenly checking the bowels when they are moving unusually freely 1 than from neglecting such a condition. In most cases the free move, ments are induced by the presence of something that ought to be discharged. It is Nature’s method to get rid of a load or to clear out something that is offensive,to health. This being the case the first step to be taken is to help Nature. Take something that will act as a cathartic. After doing this and reasonable time has been given to nature to rectify whatever is troublesome it may be well to take something of a binding nature. “But when; just when?’’ Well, if it is found that the strength is rapidly going; if a sense of prostration is felt after each movement, then, and not till then would we advise astringents, unless the relaxed condition continues for several days. Three or four days ought to be sufficient for Dame Nature to have her own way in the direction indicated; and if there be any question about it give the old natural nurse a week in which to clear the system of the offending material. Be as careful about not meddling too soon as you are to not neglect what appears like abnormah conditions.—[Dr. Foote’s Health Monthly. The discovery of Carboline, a deodorized extract of petroleum, has perfected an improvement which will be hailed with delight by thousands. The dense oily properties of the petroleum have been emanated by a novel process while its tonic, curative, vivifying and reproductive elements are all retained in increased activity. Besides being the only real cure for baldness and scalp diseases, as now improved and deocorized it is the most delicate and delightful tonic hair dressing ever known. It will not stain a hat. This highly concentrated extract of petroleum contains no minerals or other artificial coloring ma'.ter. It restores the hair by imparting new life and vigor to the roots. Mrs. Sarah J. Van Buren, whose portrait appears in another column of this paper, is preparing a “Ladies’ Tonic” which has been used for years for ouring those distressing diseases common to woman kind. It can'be bought of druggistß or by addressing Mrs. Van Buren at 192 Franklin street, Buffalo, N. Y., who answers all letters free.

TRUE Temperance Is not signing a pledge or taking a solemn oath that cannot be kept, because of the non-removal of the cause —liquor. It is a fact !
