Pursuant to announcement the citizens of Rensselaer sssembied in the court house at 4 o’clock P. m., on Monday, the 22d inst.. for the p trposeof making arrangements for the proper omervauceof Decorat mu Day, Tuesday, May 30th, 1 'B2. F. J. Sears was called to preside and C. A. E'lniouds was chosen secretary. A committee of arrangements was appointed with full powr to make and carry int? e.xeeution a program of exercises to suitably commemorate the ser ■ vices of those who uave il.eir lives in defence of hi»li country’s dag. The following officers were chosen: Alfred Thompson. President and Officer of thp Day; Rev. Philip McDade, Chaplain; C.O. Starr, J. VV. Powell, and C. 1\ Mitchell. Vice-fres’ts. PROGRAMME OF EXERCISES, The bells will risg at 1 o’clock r. m., at which time the icople will assemble at the court house, and thirtv minutes from that time the court house belfwil' be tolled. The procession will be formed under the direction of tfia officers of the day in the following order: Ist—Band. 2nd—Societies— Knights of Pythias, Odd Fellows a»’d Ma*ons. • ! hd— Ex-soldiers with flag. 4tu—Hearte with flower*. Highland Chief, better known as Andy, is too well and favoiably known to render comment necessary. He was formerly owned by Dr. Patton of this place, who purchased him in Kentucky, and afterward sold him to J esse J. Bright of West Virginia, and now owned by me. He will be kept for service, the present season, at the Kemington fair ground. His colts are here to show for themselves, in form and action, three of them being in training on the track here.
