A tramp. in Terre Haute thought to wring rood and money from.the adamant heart of an,pld lady by asking her if he oould come into the front ?’&rd and eat some grass. The old ady toid him he could, and he got down all fours and munched away, keeping his eye on. the kitchen* Presently the servant girl called him, and, thinking to reap the reward of his humility, he resbynded with alacrity. The maid’s message was: “Missus says you can go into the back yard, the grass is taller there.”
