The Loganspurt Presbytery Convened at Valparaiso last week. We notice in the published proceedings, the condition of the w’lurch in Rensselaer is reported a? diacouraging. Judging from tfie appearance of the church edifices in Rensselaer generally, we 4iould say that the cause of the whole Christ iin chare a is not flourishing. We have had opportunity of visiting many Indiana towns, and beljeve’ that we can spy that there is not a town of 500 inhabitants in the State whose churches are not generally in a more prosperous condition than they are in Rensselaer, Judging from the buildings and outside appearance generally. This is not flattering to our town, as intelligence and civilization are measured in a large degree by prosperous church organzations. And opr school building is none tue a. discredit to our town. Many our citizens pride them-elves osi their fine residences, and busino s buildings, but it is a very sigjiihcan tact that Rensselaer is not posse ssoj of a.single public building tint not a discredit to Lor. Public spirit and enterprise is not a leading characteristic of our people.
