The “Gillam Bats” still continue to cross the slough in riotous numbers. The schools of Walker are reported by Trustee Stalbauin as being in a better condition, than they have been for several years. An ex-justice of the peace of Walker township was soph a few days ago between the Stump Slough and Medaryville, on his way home from the latter place, standing up in his wagon, with whip in hand and -mouth open as though he were thinking of the ’Scriptural words, which say: “Open your mouth and it shall be filled.” Mr. and Mrs. Brown, of our township, are visiting fi lends and relatives in Johnson county, this winter.
