Jordan Township Items.
Madam Rumor says Jordan is to have a wedding in the near f uture. The prospv ctive groom is tall and slender and supports a festive mustache. Her parents are to leave the county soon, and . Well, we wish them much happiness. It is reported that oar esteemed friend, Nathan Reene, sr., is to emigrate to North America early next spring to locate some where between Nubbin Ridge and the Kankakee river. Good-bye, Nate ;we regret parting with yon. Benjamin McCart is recovering from a long and painfnl illness. A. McCoy and Yeoman are feeding 200 head of cattle for the winter market; 100 head of these they have been feeding since August Ist, and they are a fine grade of steers, and are well-fatted. They expect to sell them for exportation.
The profession of the agitator seems to have disappeared like the morning mists before the rays of a summer sun, here in Jordan township where his slippery tongue has at times met with a deserved rebuff. The attempt to organize an anti-monopoly club has failed because of the gauzy pretence of monster monopoly oppression Never in the history of railroad have freights and passenger rates ruled so low as in the past season; never have rates of interest pn borrowed capital bee* so low as at the present time; never before has labor been so closely employed and at so remunerative, wages as now, with commodities correspondingly low. In a community where groceries are fairly bursting with the weight of their precious contents, commanding high prices, is a poor place for the silver4ongued agitator with his gloomy forebodings. For the present, st least, we are content with the condition
of affairs.
