Cjld weather is on hand (and foot). It has rained a good share of the time enuring the past forty days and nights. Two cubits upwards did the waters prevail and the marshes were covered. The north end of the township presents a continuous lake of water from “Dan to Beershe* ba.” The roads are almost impassable. Farmers have not finished husking corn. Fall pasture is exceedingly good. Mr. Geo. Grow, of Kansas, has been visiting friends in this township during the past week. Mr. VanAmburgh is on the sick list. / Mrs. Isaac Alter, whY has been afflicted for several years, with lung disease, is very poorly. Mrs. John McColly is still very sick. Mr. Wolf’s little daughter, whose leg was cut off with the mowing machine, last summer, is doing well under the ca p *' of Dr. T o ighr dge. There is but little doubt now c.f a speedy recovery, whi h is almost a miracle in our midst.
Our scho )ls have begun. The first institute was held at the Shields school house on the 18th. The-next will be held at the RoseBud school house on Dec. 17th.
