Where the d 1 is Iro-Quois? R, B. Harris, of Barkley, has erected a wind-pump and painted it nicely. I John T. Culp, of Barkley, has a new residence nearly ready for occupancy. B. F. Ferguson built a hay barn thirty by ninety feet, last week. The railroad authorities have moved the depot building a few rods east of its old location. ri H. A. Barkley has erected a large wood and store house and a new wind pump on his home farm. W. S. Coen’s new house is about ready to be occupied. It is a nice looking building as seen from the road. " ils Porter now renounces the idea of being dnbbed “Mr.” until another event happens. All right, we can stand it if he can. A. Leopold gets $250 per year for the second floor of his new building. * -
That immense advertisement of Campbell & Farden’s, in last week’s Republican is noted with pleasure. If old Archimedes had known the power of printer’s ink he never would have asked for a fulcrum that he might move the world. John English, one *of the best farmers in Barkley township, is ensoonsed in a fine new house, built this year. Isaac Walker and Wm. Smith,of Barkley, traded farms some time ago, and now Mr. Walker is building a new frame house. Guess she wouldn’t wait. At least they are going to build a frame house between Ferguson’s and the railroad. We hope the rumor that the passenger depot at this place will be built west of the hay barns in Thompson’s addition, will prove true. Wm. H. Saylor accidentally cut his head with a hatchet the other day. He will not husk any corn for a while.
The Hon. W. K. Parkison has cleared the brush out of the fence row in front of his orchard, but thsre were no large, blushing apples in sight to tempt an ordinary sinner to do as Mother Eve did. John Makeever says he has about twenty application on file from men who wish to lease his new hotel and between twenty and thirty people have spoken for? r< oms in order to become permanent boarders. 3
Lyman Zea sold a house and lot to Mrs. Ball, and is now building another house just north oj the creamery.
