The subject of life insurance is one that in engaging the attention of a large portion of the country, and swarms of so-called “insurance societies” on the “cooperative plan#” seeing an opportunity to make by it# artJ filling the c mntry with agents. Now we are strictly in favor of life insurance for the benefits it has. bestowed and is bestowing on the widows and orphans of the United States, ate such as commend it to the best thinking people and shrewdest financiers, and best calculators are patronizing it, and we admit that to take a stand against life insurance would be in conflict with the brains and intelligence of the country, but the “cooperations,” where they are gaining their strongest foothold, are demonstrating that they do not insure at all, and the concerned re short lived at best, the average life of them being about 4wo years; the longest lived ones never being to exceed ten years, and they are not and should not be called insurance companies. When a man insures his life he expects the company to last longer than he does, but unless he expects to die right soon he should not invest in these concerns. Look out for the sharks; X.
