Mrs. Nim Hopkins is seriously ill. Cash Hopkins will move back to town shortly. Good morning, ’‘Aunt Becky.” How is your man? Mrs. H. C. Bruce is recovering from a recent severe illness. John B. Hemphill proposes to move to town in the near future. Hugh Coen has bought McElfresh’s farm, in Newton township. Elder Huston has removed to Goodland and taken charge of the Baptist church. Rock-a-bye baby at Shelby Grant’s. He will have to buy plenty of calico in time. Robert Yeoman, of Newton township, is spending a few weeks! in Johnson county, with friends. Trustee Porter has removed the Daugherty school house one mile south and one-fourth of a mile west of its old location. Norm. Warner is preparing to build a house between that of Mr. Ferguson and the railroad. I do not know which one of the boys will occupy it. John Gillaspie received §7.50 per week for six weeks, instead of what the types made me say last week. Everybody ought to carry an accident policy. Elder McDade’s sermon at Wasson’s school house last Sunday was one of the best we have heard in a long time. I fear his plane is too high for Rensselaer. Frank Moore and family have returned, after a sojourn of two or three years in Kansas. One by one the weary wanderers return. Welcome home again. The old hay barn used by Sigler <fc Goff has been torn down and rebuilt near Ferguson’s store and
warehouse. It will be more convenient than it was before. Elder McDade, formerly of Howard county, has purchased the Harding property, next door to the Christian church, and will move to Rensselaer some time next week. t Archibald Purcupile, after a res-. idence of more than a quarter of a century in Rensselaer, has gone west to grow up with the country.
