Remington Items.
Dear Republican : —We are all feeling better and more hopeful over this way than we did last week. The weather is all that could be desired. The army worms have gone to “seek fresh fields and pastures new," or else as innocentlooking white butterflies they are fluttering over the fields they so recently laid waste. All conditions seem encouraging and we feel encouraged accordingly. Mrs. Wells, of Indianapolis, sister to O. B. Mclntyre, has taken up her residence in Remington. Wo hope that she and her family may have a pleasant home among us. Her son, Will, has been here so long that we look upon him as an old citizen. Taking him as a specimen, the family will make a pleasand valuable addition to Remington. Miss Aril la B. V. Cotton spent last week with friends in Remington, but, as usual, her friends m Rensselaer sent for her before her friends in Remington were ready to give her up. Elmer Dwiggins, of your burg, was also in town last Friday. We are inclined to think that he is a young gentleman of a speculative turn of mind. While others try to; get up a corner on torn, wheat, bonds, stocks and mortgages, he seems to give his attention entirely to Cotton. Success to him. We acknowledge the receipt of another very friendly call from Mr. Marshall, of The Republican, last Friday. There is some talk of starting a literary club in our town. We sincerely hope that it may not end in talk. We have plenty of material for the formation of a good society and it might be made pleasant and profitable for all who are connected with it Thbee-Twenty-Nine.
