Fortune-Teller’s Almanac.

To dream of having a great number of servants is—madness. To dream of a bear betokens mischief, which your vision shows you is a bruin. When a fashionable young lady dreams of a filbert, it is a sign that her thoughts are running upon a. colonel. To dream that your nose is red at the tip is an intimation that you had better leave off brandy and water. To dream of a mill-stone about your neck is a sign of what you may expect if you marry an extravagant wife. If you dream of clothes, it is a warning not to go to law, for by the rule of contraries, you will be sure of a non-suit. To dream of a fire is a sign that if vou are wise you will see that all the lights in your house are out before you go to bed. It is very lucky to dream that you pay for a thing twice over, since, afterward, you will probably take care to have all your bills receipted. For a person in embarrassed circumstances to dream he is arrested is very fortunate, for it is a' warning to him on no account to accept a bill. /

The particulars of the recent watch competition at Melbourne. are somewhat curious. They show that Swiss watches excel in point of accuracy, the American in point of finish and general appearance. Thus, out of a possible6oo points for good going, the Lode timekeeper that gained the first prise won 600; for finish, Ac., it got 403; while the American, which came in second, was assigned 430 marks for good going and 345 for finish. In the matter of accuracy, a watch by Mr. Kirkpatrick of London came next after the Lode watch, with 495 marks, and considerably before its best 4 American competitor, which had only 480; but as touching finish it was the last but one in a list of eight, gaining no more than 340 marks out of a possible 600. It would therefore seem that in the matter of good time keeping English horologists have little to learn, but in finish they are behind both their American and Swiss competitors.
