M. Dickenson, both of Fowler, attended our fair last wee*, Mr, Johnson was judge of our poultry department. Charley has gained the reputation of being one of the best judges of chicks in tbs west. —The poor man of Jasper county whetber Republicans or Democrats, can vot# for Dr. Alter for treasurer because be visited them day and night when they were sici: pay or no pay. He was and is the poor man’s friend.

—Capt, Wm. Taylor df Lafayette, was hers some time ago; he said John W. Powell was one of the very best men in his battery. And was always ready for duty and never gambled. No soldier oould ask a higher compliment. fl —We were pleasantly entertained last Monday night by a serenade fiom the Delphi band in front of our office. This baud has attained a high degree of excellence in the use of their instruments. Their fame precedes them wherever they go. —John Lathrope, leader of the Delphi Band visited the Republican office Tuesday. Johnnie is candidate for treasurer of Carroll county and will make hard work for his Democratic competitor.
