Everybody invited. —About fifty excursionist* from this place took in the camp-meeting at at Battle Ground last Sunday. —Joe Critcbfield, the celebrated “Rough Diamond” temperance orator will lecture to the Blue Ribbon Club this evening. P. Thompson was made sad last Bunday morning by the death of tbelr infant buy Parr. They have the sympathy of many friends in their sad affliction. k —Let every ex-soldier remember the preliminary meeting at the court bouse to-morrow to make arrangements for the reunion of soldiers of Benton, Jasper, Newton and White counties. Colonel Yeoman informs us that work is progressing nicely on the railroad north of town. We hope our citisens may soon have the pleasure of making a trip to Chicago over the I. A C. A. L. R. R. —Some small boy* not knowing any better way to call attention to their smartness, are throwing pebbles into the coal oil well. This matter should be investigated by the town authorities and the offenders brought to punishment —Address Horace E. —As two young men passed along the street the other day, a Democrat standing by our side remarked that there were two .who had been converted to Democracy. What, said we, ••two?” Well, he replied, ‘‘nearly two; on* of them used to be a Democrat,” Thus it is in' a majority of cases of Democratic Braggadocio. —Dr. H. J. Banta of Bradford, a life long Democrat has joined the Garfield Club of that place. Hurrah for the young men and their progression ideas. —The ladles of LaFayette hare taken the affair in band and propose to exclude beer stand* from the county fair. They are circulating for signatures, resolutions pledging the signer* to non-attendance of the fair and refusal to patronise it by exhibiting their wares. They are awakening
much enthusiasm in tbe matter and their real la commendable and worthy of imitation by temperance people everywhere. —On oar return, Tuesday, from a visit to Beaton county, we were surprised to find on the office table a generous supply of cake. But we were not long kept ipignorance as to tite donor. Our printer let a flood of Starrligbt in upon our bewilderment by tb> information that oar jovial friend C C- Starr had gone and com. raided Matrimony and that Miss Emma Rhoades was tbe happy bride. Tbe ceremony was performed Monday 11 A. M- at the residence of the bride’s parents by Bev. A. W. <Wood. May theif crown of wedded bliss be gemmed with many Starrs to cheer and light them o’er life’s rugged 'way. Many thanks for the cake. —At the meeting es the Blue Ribbon Club of this county, held on last Friday eveniue, the following Me and resolution were passed v ithout a dissenting voice. $ Wbxrkxs, the Board of Directors of the Tippecanoe County Agricultural Association have for the consideration of *I,OOO granted a permit for the sale of malt liquors oh the Fair Grounds during the forthcoming Fair, against which act the friends of Temper.- n *e entered their urgent protest, without avail. Iftere ore Re solved, That we tbe members of tbe Blue Ribbon Club of Jasper County, Indiana, will not, by our presence or otherwise, contribute to the success of the Tippecanoe County Agricultural Fair, so long as the sale of’intoxicating drinks is 11 censed on the Fair Grounds during tbe time ot Fair.
