A Lady Whose Face is Covered With a Luxuriant Beard.

There is now residing in Lawrenceville a lad v whose face is covered with almost a full-grown beard, and there is a singular story connected with the freak of nature which, to a certain extent, mars the lady's otherwise feminine appearance. She is said to have been born and raised on the Allegheny Mountains at a point where the locality was very sparsely settled, so that the singular deformity was scarcely noted by the neople. As the lady grew older the beard is said to have become stronger and more luxuriant, being a growth whM2b representatives of the sterner sex would have envied. About a week ago the lady came to Lawrenceville to take up het residence with relatives living in that locality, and it then became apparent at once that the beard, owing to the restrictions of society, shoula be suppressed, if such a thing were possible. As shaving would only be an encouragement to the future growth, the lady’s friends were at quite a loss as to what they should do, but finally a gentleman, who had been given to understand the pressing necessity of a reme-

dy, promised to consult a druggist to see whether there were not compounds as well adapted to the destruction of whiskers as to make them flourish. He waa informed that there were, but that, being in the form of acids, the remedies might have the effect of injuring the skin, in which event it might be more desirable to let the beard have its way without interruption. The gentleman accordingly left, and as he has not since applied for any of the acids, it is supposed that the lady has concluded to allow the beard to remain.—BCttedurcA
