Longest Submarine Telephone.

The telephone cable which has just been laid between this country and Belgium, and which shortly will be opened to the public at the charge of Bs. for a three minutes’ conversation, is the longest submarine telephone in the world. It crosses the Channel from St. Margaret’s bay, near Dover, to a point on the Belgian coast, near Ostend, a distance of over sixty miles. —London Chronicle. Another edition of “In Merry Mood,” a book of cheerful rhymes, by Nixon Waterman, has recently been published by Forbes & Co., of Boston.
