USED A KNIFE.
Jerry Tullis Fined for Assaulting His Teacher. Jerry Tullis is the fifteen year old son of George Tullis, of Jordan township. Jerry misbehaved at school and was expelled. On Monday of last week he went to the school house and asked the teacher, Miss Leila Travis, to grade his manuscript. Upon her refusal to do as he requested Tullis grabbed her satchel, which was sitting on the floor near him, and with an oath that he would see about it, he thereupon dumped the contents on the floor. Miss Travis seized him and they fell beneath the desk. In the struggle young Tullis drew his knife and struck her in the neck, shoulder and breast, but without inflicting much injury. John Williams, who happened to be passing, separated them, when the boy, in his rage broke away and again rushed for Miss Travis and grabbed her watch, throwing it on the floor. Tuesday young Tullis was arrested on the charge of assault and battery and on Friday was fined |lO and costs in the circuit court on a plea of guilty.
