KILLED HIS MAN.

Brokus Is Charged With Murder in First Degree.

It has been learned that Elias Brokus, a former resident of Fair Oaks, news of whose arrest reached here recently, is charged with murder in the first degree. Brokus is in jail at Livingstone, Montano, and his attorneys have written to Brokus’ father, asking him to send them SSOO as a fee for defending him in court. The man killed was Fred Bisher, a native of Winterset, lowa, and the employer of Brocus. It is stated that when the shooting was done Bisher had Brokus tightly gripped about the throat, and as Bisher was a large man and Brocus a small man and a cripple, it will be put up as a defense that Brokus was in danger of his life when the shooting occurred. Brokus is a son of David Brokus, formerly postmaster of Fair Oaks, but now of Lowell. At one time he was a resident of Rensselaer. His reputation was not of the best and at one time he was in jail here, charged with assault.
