The Circuit Court.
The circuit court is in session this week, but so far no business of special importance has been transacted. The jury is called for next Monday. The grand jury is in session. It is composed of Sylvester Gray, and N. of Rensselaer; August Stimson, of Wheatfield; Frank Fisher, of Kankakee township; Charles A. Lefler, of Hanging Grove, and Simon Kenton, of Marion township. They have made no report as yet, but a number of Wheatfield citizens have been before them. The 6th annual meeting of the Old Settlers is to be held at Van Rensselaer Grove, Rensselaer, on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 o’clock a. m. Speeches, music and songs will be provided. A tent will contain all relics, curiosities and products illustrating the past and present conditions of the county. A basket picnic will be held on the court house square. Baskets will be cared for in the ladies’ waiting room in the court house. A full attendance is requested. Mrs. O. H. Porter, of Delphi, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Williams.
