THEIR ACTION RESCINDED.

No Contract Yet Let for the Newton County Court House at Goodland. The contract for the new court house at Goodland has not yet been let, after all, the county council at the last moment refusing to make an appropriation for the construction of the building, thus tying the hands of the commissioners in the matter. Through the failure of Auditor Jones to ask for an appropriation in the published estimates in August, five votes were necessary to carry the appropriation, and but four votes out of seven could be secured in favor of the appropriation, thus showing the fine work of Kentland in the matter. The commissioners awarded the contract to Daner with the proviso that the county council appropriate the money, therefore the contract was cancelled. Goodland will now have to do the fighting to'secure her rights, instead of standing on the defensive 1 and letting the other side do the fighting. The way the matter now stands it will be some time before the court house is built at Goodland, and it is very doubtful if it ever will. Considerable ill-feeling has been worked up over the matter which will no doubt be injected into their election this fall.
