ORDINANCE NUMBER 66. An Ordinance Relative to Licensing and Regulating Certain Extraordinary Trades and Establishments and Repealing all Ordinances Heretofore Passed that Conflict with this Ordinance. Sec. 1. Be It ordained by the Common Council of the City of Rensselaer. Indiana* That any person who shall exhibit in said city, for payment or reward, charged demanded or received, any theatrical performance; any show of puppets, wax figures or animals; any display of tumbling feats; rope or wire dancing or sleight of hand; any circus; natural or artificial curiosity; decernHonor rep, esentatlon. or any musical conor, d L s P la y or Performance of the descrl Ptlon, without license )y e r < ' i i or mad ® out, attested, signed and tbe Provisions of the next ensuing section, shall, for every such offense, on conviction thereof be fined in any sum not less than one (*1.00) dollar nor more than fifty (*50.00) dollars with cost of Sec. 2. All licenses for such exhlhitinna shall be made out and attested by the Oit| Clerk, signed by the City Mayor and sealed with the seal of said City and shall state the name or names of the party applying therefor, with the intended purpose and expected continuance thereof; and shall also, in case of any theatrical performance, circus, menagerie or show of wild animals, designate the building or place of holding the same and said Clerk may demand aud receive from every party receiving such license the sum of one ($1.00) dollar as his fee thtrefor. Sec. 3 Said Clerk shall issue such license on receiving from the party applying therefor the receipt of the said Treasurer for the sum charged therefor, as fixed in the Fifth section of this ordinance ; or on the order or resolution of said Council and not otherwise. Sec. 4. No provision of this ordinance shall prevent the giving of any concert, or the conducting of any exhibition not indecorous or immoral, and the net profits of which shall be devoted exclusively to any religious, charitable, literary or scientific purpose, or to the benefit of any fire company in said city. Sec. 5. The amounts to be paid for such license-shall, until otherwise ordered, be fixed ;is follows, viz: One dollar and fifty cents (*1.50) per day or night; eight dollars (sß.oii) per week; twenty dollars ($i0.00) for six months or fifty dollars (*o0.00) per year for any theatrical performance held within doors; twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day or night for any circus or menagerie and five dollars (*5.00) per day or fifteen ($15.00) per week for any show or performance other than a circus, menagerie or theatrical performance, and not over fifteen dollars (sls) per day for a circus alone. Sec. 6. Any person convicted of having occupied any street, square or common beto dty for the performance or exhibition of any circus or menagerie shall be fined therefor in any sum not less than one dollar ($1) and not more than twentyfive dollars ($25.00.) Sec. 7, Any person convicted of having distrubed or interrupted any such exhibition* or any spectator or auditor thereof shall be fined in any sum not less than one dollar (*I) nor more than ten dollars ($10). withcpsts of suit, Sec. 8. Said Council may at any session thereof, by order or resolution, exempt any party being a bona fide resident in said ct ty from the necessity of obtaining such license, as pre-requisite to the holding of any musical concert or other musical performance, to be held exclusively by such party, but not otherwise. Sec 9, All ordinances or parts of ordinances heretofore passed by the Common Council that conflict with the provisions of ibis ordinance are hereby repealed and especially is an ordinance numbered 04, passed by the said Council on July 14. 1002, hereby repealed. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS. Notice is hereby given that, at a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City Bensselaer. Indiana, to be held on the ■42nd day of September, IPO2, bids will be received for the construction of a concrete sidewalk four feet in width on the south side of kannal Avenue from a point at the northwest corner of Lot 4. Block 2, in Harvey’s Addition and running thence east to River street. Said sidewalk Is to be constructed in accordance with a resolution of said Common Council adopted on the 25th day of August, 1902, declaring the same to be necessary. ORDINANCE NO. 65. An Ordinance Prohibiting the Riding or Propelling of Bicycles or Safety Wheels Upon Any Concrete Sidewalk In the City of Rensselaer. Sec. 1. Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Rensselaer, Indiana, That it shall be unlawful for any person to ride, propel or use in any manner upon any concrete sidewalk composed of rock, sand and cement, within the corporate limits of the City of Rensselaer, auy bicycle or safety wheel, used for exercise, business or pleasure, unless in the necessary act of crossing the same. Sec 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of Section One of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not less than one dollar (*l.OOl nor more than ten dollars (*10.00) for each offense.
