Commissioners’ Court.

The county commissioners were in regular session this week. Saloon licenses were granted to Wm. W. Ballinger and Alfred Ponton, of Kniman, George Ketohmark, of Dunnville, and James A. Bilile, of Remington. In the petition of Jesse Nichols, superintendent of gravel roads, to condemn a gravel pit on the farm of Henry J. Gowland in Marion townsnip, an order of condemnation was made and Gowland allowed §275 damages. The auditor was directed to advertise for bids for a bridge in Jordan township. An order ofcontinuance was entered in the matter of the South Barkley township gravel road. The contract for a thirty foot iron bridge in Keener township, a twenty foot bridge and an arch bridge in Carpenter township was let to the Attica Bridge Co. for §1,247 for the three Owing to the strike it was impossible to get bids for smokeless coal for the county heating plant, therefore no contract was made but a car load of other coal was ordered from the Coal Bluff Mining Co. for temporary use.
