SALOONIST KILLS POLICEMAN

Trouble in an Alley Leads to Fatal Result. Galesburg, 111., dispatch: George Allen, a member of the police force, was shot and instantly in an alley by Henry McCune, a saloonkeeper, while McCune received two shots in the left shoulder. Allen at'the time was patroling the alley. As the two men were alone what occurred is not clear. McCune, it Is said, was knocked down by the policeman for some interference as the officer was after a couple in the alley. McCune ran into his saloon and snatqhed up his revolver. Five shots were fired. McCune is now in jail. Allen was one of the most popular men on the force.
