CORRESPONDENCE.
Pair Oakn. Jack Kight and Allison Kinney spent last Monday in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs Bringle were in Chicago last Sunday to see Dr. Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Elza Grow, of Rensselaer, spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Gundy, and other relatives. Bruce Moffitt spent the later part of last week at Peoria, 111., on business. Peter Zea is erecting a large feed barn back of his residence for the accommodation of the public. Chas. Gundy has just painted his new ice house and barn, giving them a much better appearance. Ethel Arnold was the guest of her sister, Mrs, C. D.|N orman, at Rensselaer, last Saturday. Twenty-eight people from here took advantage of the cheap excursion to ‘ Indianapolis last Sunday In a game of base ball at the park last Saturday between the Tolln Ranch and Fair Oaks nines the score stood 21 to 16 in favor of the latter. A large crowd witnessed the game. A few lovers of fast horse flesh from here attended the Derby races last Saturday. Mrs. John Mundon and children, of Momence, 111., spent last week with his parents, Gus Mundon and wife. Mrs. A. Moore and children, of Lafayette, spent last week with her parents, Miles Moffitt and wife, and other relatives and friends. Fair Oaks will not celebrate the fourth this year, but a good many of our people expect to spend the day at the near by towns holding celebrations. Stone, lumber and other material is fast arriving for the new elevator and work will soon be under full headway. Mrs. Dr. Proudly and daughter, Mrs Felix Erwin, spent last Sunday at Indianapolis with the former’s aunt, Mrs. Farnsworth, who is in a serious condition with a cancer. Mrs. P. W. Liston and daughter, Mrs. Jennie Goble, visited a sister of the formerat Indianapolis last Sunday. Mrs Peter Zea left Tuesday for Remington, to visit Mrs. James Zea, who recently had a stroke of paralysis. Dr. Leeson, of Rose Lawn, contemplates building a two story bnck block where the drug store now- stands some time this summer. The ground floor is to be occupied by the drug store and the upper story will be used by the Odd Fellows as a lodge room. The old frame building will not be torn down but will be moved elsewhere. This will be quite an improvement to the business part of town if built.
